The Amazing Race 5 Comes To Philippines

Win 200,000 pesos in AXN's The Amazing Race Philippines Contest!

(Manila, 10 September 2004) - For the first time in history, The Amazing
Race, one of the most popular reality programs on television, comes to
one of its most exciting and exhilarating conclusions and the Philippines
has the unique honor of hosting the last two Pit Stops in the season 5
episode broadcast on Wednesday, 15 Sep at 8pm, on AXN.

To celebrate the occasion, AXN will give away 200,000 pesos to two lucky
viewers who catch the episodes of The Amazing Race featuring the Philippines
in The Amazing Race Philippines Contest. For the episode broadcast on
15 September, viewers have to catch one question that will appear anytime
during the broadcast of the show and log on to www.axn-asia.com/ar5 to
answer the question. Correct entries will stand a chance to win 100,000 pesos,
or one of 50 consolation prizes consisting of exclusive AXN premiums. The
second Amazing Race Philippines episode on 22nd September will present
a different question, and another 100,000 pesos and 50 AXN premiums up
for grabs*.

The Coconut Palace at the Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex will
greet the teams at the end of the episode broadcast on Wednesday,
15th September, while the grand finale of The Amazing Race 5 on the
following Wednesday, 22nd September, will see teams heading for the
lush tropical paradise that is Lagen Island Resort in El Nido, near Palawan
Island. These episodes will be shown on AXN at 8pm.

This is the first time the 2004 Emmy award winning reality series has visited
the Philippines, and the Coconut Palace, which was built especially for Pope
John Paul II for his papal visit to the country in the 1980s, and currently one of the most sought-after venues for events and galas, becomes the first ever Philippines Pit Stop for the race.

The past four seasons of The Amazing Race have seen teams racing from continent to continent to countries such as Switzerland, The Netherlands, Mexico, Australia, Italy, Africa, and the Asian cities they have so far visited include China, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Korea, Vietnam and Hong Kong.

In the current season, only 4 remaining teams are left from the original 11 teams - dating couple Colin & Christie, married parents Chip & Kim, bowling mums Linda & Karen, and models Brandon & Nicole. They will make their way from the green hills of New Zealand to the bustling urban city of Manila. What challenges will they face in the Philippines? The Amazing Race 5 episode featuring Manila is broadcast on Wednesday 15 September at 8pm on AXN, while the episode featuring El Nido is broadcast on Wednesday 22 September at 8pm. Rebroadcasts of both episodes can be caught on Wednesday nights at 12 midnight, Thursdays at 5pm, Sundays at 10am, 7pm and 12 midnight, and Tuesdays at 3pm.
