Sculptra Facial Filler For Treating Facial Wasting Associated with AIDS

According to an article in the Asian Wall Street Journal, the US Food and Drug Administration approved a new facial filler produced by Aventis SA called Sculptra for the treatment of facial wasting due to AIDS.

Sculptra fills wrinkle lines by stimulating skin cells to increase volume, with effects lasting as long as two years. It was also approved in Europe for people with lipoatrophy or facial wasting.

But there are side effects, such as small lumps appearing of the face due to irritated skin. Also it may take several treatments and a few weeks before results can be seen.

The good news is that a cosmetic product based on this may help fight aging and reduce facial wrinkles.
