How Natural Foods and Vitamins May Help Control Acne

Food, diet, and vitamin supplements may help control acne and other related problems such as pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads.

Try eating foods that are rich in vitamin A, such as egg yolks, carrots, fish, liver, milk, and green leafy vegetables. 10,000 IU (International Units) is the recommended daily dosage for adults. Dermatologist sometimes prescribe Retin A (Vitamin A acid).

Consult with your doctor, and ask if you can try taking 25,000 IU of water soluble Vitamin A, 1-2 times a day, 6 times a week. Water soluble because Vitamin A derived from natural fish liver oil may not be suitable to acne sufferers trying to avoid oil. Also consult what vitamin supplements to take to control acne.

Caution: Too much Vitamin A may cause toxic side effects.

Foods rich in Vitamin E may help retard cellular aging and help prevent scarring caused by acne. Vitamin E also works well with Vitamin A.

Healthy foods rich in Vitamin E are broccoli, Brussels sprouts, eggs, enriched flour, soybeans, wheat germ, whole wheat, and whole grain cereals.

400 IU (dry form) of Vitamin E taking 1-2 times daily may help control acne.
